My co-founders and I started haddock 3 years ago at the height of the pandemic. We wanted to help restaurants take control of their businesses. For lots of them, staying open or having to close came down to optimising to the last cent.

Y Combinator

We were admitted to the winter 2022 batch at Y Combinator, the largest startup accelerator in the world. It was an amazing experience that helped us grow our business exponentially.

It was also, however, the thing that made me realize I was at the end of my journey with haddock.

It was time to refocus myself on engineering and building great software, rather than being an executive and growing a business.

My Skills

Coding

I've worked with all kinds of languages and paradigms: static types, dynamic types, compiled, interpreted, object oriented, functional... What's important is choosing the right tool for the job, and writing clean and idiomatic code.
Fullstack

From writing CSS stylesheets to setting up VMs on cloud infrastructure, there are no parts of the tech stack I don't enjoy working with.
Systems design

Having designed and successfully launched haddock, I have confidence in my ability to turn an idea into technical specifications.
Test driven

It is for good reason that all new languages ship with integrated testing solutions. You can't rely on behaviours you don't test for.
Team work

While growing the product team at haddock from just me to 6 people, I discovered both my love for mentoring others and for learning from others' experience.
Product centered

Features and changes need to have goals that can be tracked and measured. From OKRs to design decisions, a good developer always has the whole picture in mind.
